DESIGN RESEARCH / CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT / LEARNING DESIGN

Mindset is a hands-on tool that helps students identify and reflect on their personal values. Inspired by the Japanese concept of ikigai (“reason for being”), the tool invites students to physically arrange coloured squares to create a visual map of what is most important to them across different life areas such as work, family, and social life. The interactive nature encourages self-reflection, helps clarify what’s important, and allows students to revisit their values over time as their perspectives change.

I worked with Imogen Zino to develop the initial concept for Mindset. Motivated by our conversations about ikigai and ‘purpose’, we set out to create a tactile toolkit that would support better decision-making in life, study, and work. Together, we experimented with different layouts and ways to gamify this. After developing and testing the concept with students, the project was further refined and brought to life by the Good Health Design team and student interns.
